Sixth Urban Innovation Forum held in Guangzhou

The sixth Urban Innovation Forum was held at Guangzhou Library on June 3, to discuss excellent cases and lessons on Urban Innovation.

Ms. Mary Lewin, former manager of Metropolis Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and the former director of the Victorian Government Department of Planning and Community Development (for Melbourne) in Australia, was invited as the first speaker in 2017 and delivered a speech on sustainable urban development, sharing the challenges of urban growth and the Plan Melbourne 2017-2050 with Guangzhou's audience.

Mary praised Guangzhou for its world-leading infrastructure and public services. She also said that many Guangzhou residents have positive attitudes, fluent English and are very innovative. Mary previously visited Guangzhou in 2000 and 2012.

The forum was held by the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou Municipal Government, Guangzhou Institute for Urban Innovation, Guangzhou Library, and Guangzhou Urban Planning & Design Survey Research Institute (GZPI). It has been held for six times since 2016.
